MQHA encourages the athletic development of youth and adult amateurs who have a keen focus on horsemanship and equine health, building on skillsets for the show ring, sports psychology and wellbeing, and participating in MQHA and other AQHA events.
MQHA is offering a $500 scholarship to a youth or adult amateur that can be used towards:
• Attending a clinic hosted by MQHA or another provincial AQHA affiliate
• Lessons from a professional trainer who actively participates in AQHA shows.
Location of lessons must be within Canada and in Canadian funds. Virtual lessons do not qualify. (trainer/coach must have shown in AQHA classes within the last two years)
• Coaching from a professional trainer/coach at MQHA shows during the 2026 season
Criteria:
• Applicant must be a Youth or Adult Amateur as defined by AQHA
• Applicant may be a current MQHA member or someone interested in becoming an MQHA member and attending MQHA events
• Scholarship funds will either be sent directly to the trainer/coach with provided invoice or recipient may be reimbursed with proof of receipts
The Applicant must submit an essay of 500 words or less describing why athletic development is important to them and their equine partner and how they would like to use the scholarship funds if selected. MQHA Scholarship Committee will review and respond to all applicants.
Timeline:
Applications must be emailed no later than Monday, April 6, 2026 to: info@mqha.ca The successful applicant will be notified by Friday, April 17, 2026. A presentation for the scholarship will be at the Summer Sizzler, during the Year End Awards Celebration.
In the event that a scholarship is not awarded, MQHA reserves the right to make a donation of $250 to the Townsend Equine Health Research Fund at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine to further horse health research.
